The MiCUP (Michigan College and University Partnership Program) is funded by a grant from the State of Michigan’s Department of Career Development. This program’s goal is to increase the number of ethnic minority students transferring from two-year colleges to four-year universities.
- Directed CMU’s Michigan Department of Career Development MiCUP Grant
- Oversaw all recruitment and student support initiatives for the program
- Provided academic and transfer information to prospective transfers students at two-year colleges
- Maintained data and records on program activities and student participation Provide training, support and supervision to Graduate Students Assistant and Student Tutors
Submitted five proposals to the Michigan Department of Career Development. Each was fully funded for a total of over $194,000.
CMU’s MiCUP program has partnered with Lansing Community College, Mid Michigan Community College, Northwestern Michigan College, and North Central Michigan College and informally with the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College. We have realized a significant increase in the transfer rate of under-represented students from each of these colleges as a result of this program. For example, the number of minority students transferring from Mid Michigan Community College to CMU has increased by 500% since the inception of the program.
